Imagine aliens came swooping down from the heavens, and demanded of each person in the world that, without conferring or knowledge of other people's votes, they nominate one other person to be spared; all un-nominated people then being destroyed. What proportion of people would be left?

I have a suspicion that most mathematical models will have the proportion of people spared tending to 1/e, but this is based on random intuition rather than solid axioms.

I wonder if I would be amongst the people saved.
