So I thought I'd try a diet. My sister (who quite frankly is so thin it's unhealthy) has made a couple of random comments about starting a beer belly, which, while not entirely true (he said, carefully deluding himself), hit sufficiently close to the bone that I though it was probably a good idea to give it a go.

My diet is the ever popular "don't be so bloody stupid" diet. It consists of me eating exactly the same as before I went on it, except on those occasions where I feel vague cravings for something that I feel does not suit the idea of a diet, I refuse to buy it and/or don't eat it. To be honest, it's not all that onerous - except I really feel like some toffee popcorn at the moment... ;)

Effect I am observing in myself, which may or may not be to do with the diet (they may be to do with the fact that I've been pretty busy over the last few weeks) are:

o Disinclination to do the things that I'm supposed to do without quite a lot of self prodding, and not getting as far in them before giving up, as normal.
o Waking up far to early in the morning.
o Suddenly running out of Stamina in a 5-a-side football match (which admittedly may be because I'm out of practice).
o General feeling of the-world-is-not-even-interested-enough-in-me-to-be-out-to-get-me-ness, what-on-earth-am-I-doing-here-ness, what-is-my-life-like-ness and general depressedness.
o Disinclination to do exercise, although I was hardly a fount of want-to-do-exercise before.
o No noticable effect on any physical feature ;)

On balance, I don't think that I'm all that impressed. So here's the question - do I give the diet a chance, or do I get rid of it.
